Livery winner announced
A1 Team Indonesia, one of the 23 nations competing in the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport has selected the winning entry of their livery design competition. A design which combines modern simplicity with Indonesian culture was chosen as the new identity for the national team, with the Indonesian national symbol of the Garuda bird featuring prominently on the livery.

A unique feature of the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport is that each team races with their national sporting colours or national flag on the car, creating a distinctive, easily recognisable visual branding for each nation. The new livery for the Indonesian team features the two prominent colours of the team’s flag, red and white, whilst also featuring the Garuda bird, the Indonesian national symbol. A representation of Garuda appears in the coat of arms of Indonesia and from this season the team’s car will be named Garuda.

The competition attracted entries from all four corners of the world after its launch in July this year. The team had remained with its original livery design for the first three seasons and were keen to engage the fans in giving the team a fresh and distinctive look. There were nearly 30 submissions for the competition which were then narrowed down to a final ten. These finalists were then judged by a panel from A1GP, Ferrari and the Indonesian team.

The winning submission was by Fasttrack Media. The basis for the livery design is the Garuda bird and this is creatively integrated over the car. The bird’s head and neck are placed on the nose cone, with the red and white striped panels on the side pod and engine cover acting as ‘wings and tail’. The red stripes on the top of the nose cone add to the dynamic look and feel of the whole design.

Bagoes Hermanto, A1 Team Indonesia Team Principal commented, “I want to thank all those who took part in the competition, there were some fantastic and creative designs submitted, making it difficult to choose just one winner. I hope the enthusiasm and dedication shown by the fans can be translated into results this season.”

A1 Team Indonesia will soon debut the new car, taking part in a pre-season test session in the UK early next week before heading off to the first race weekend, at Zandvoort in the Netherlands. The new livery will be showcased on track for the first time at the Dutch venue.
